Manchester United and Liverpool have always had an extremely bitter rivalry, and that fire could be about to be fuelled by an unlikely source. According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, Memphis Depay could be about to make the switch between the North-West clubs.
The 22-year-old is now 7/4 on to move to Liverpool this summer, which has been dramatically cut down from 7/2 in just a matter of hours. As always, with odds it isn’t necessarily a certainty to happen because it could just be down to the fact a couple of customers have placed a hefty bet on the move.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Man United fans will have a new Public Enemy No 1 if their big-money buy swaps the Stretford End for the Kop this summer.”
Depay would become the first player in over fifty years to make a direct move between the two feisty rivals, and Jose Mourinho would be absolutely daft if he allowed this transfer to happen.
We all know Depay’s capabilities when he’s on form, and for United to cut their losses on him after just one season could certainly come back to haunt us – especially with a manager like Jurgen Klopp eyeing him up, as he could really make the most ouf ot that talent.
