Manchester United have been given a huge boost in the hunt to sign Atletico Madrid starlet Koke, due to Atletico’s interest in Chelsea’s Kevin De Bruyne. The out of favour Chelsea man wants a move so he can hopefully earn a place in Belgium’s World Cup squad for next year, and Atletico see him as the man to replace the highly regarded Koke.
It isn’t just United interested in the 21-year old’s signature, with Liverpool reportedly keen on the attacking midfielder too, although it is believed that we’re in pole position to land the player. Like all players in Spain, the player has a release clause in his contract, however the value of this is unknown. Some are claiming it is as little as €20m (£16m), where others claim that has now expired and the clause is now €38m (£32m).
Signing Koke would be a huge coup for Moyes, but I wonder where he’d fit into our starting XI. He is prominently a central-attacking midfielder but has sometimes been deployed out on the left-wing and done an excellent job out there when called upon.
