Manchester United given hope in pursuit of world class centre-back as deal not yet reached

Manchester United have certainly been given a glimmer of light in their pursuit of one of the best centre-halves on the planet. Earlier in the week it was suggested that the German international had agreed a deal with Bayern Munich, but according to the man himself that isn’t the case.

“This s****y statement has made a misleading expression. I have no idea why they had to do it.” Hummels began.

“Everything is possible and nothing is decided yet.”

He clearly isn’t very happy about the fact that many portions of the press, and even his club reckon he wants to join Bayern Munich.

However its good news for us that there is still hope that we can land him this summer. Borussia Dortmund would obviously prefer to sell Hummels abroad, and Manchester United is certainly a viable option for him.

He’d bring so much experience and know-how into an extremely young defence, and he fits Louis van Gaal’s mould of a ball-playing centre-back down to a tee.

If there is a time for Manchester United to act to try and get this deal done it has to be now. There is clearly an opening here, and if the club throw enough money his way, he may well be persuaded to come to sunny Manchester…
