Manchester United had private jet booked on deadline day for potential signing: report

Manchester United Football Club certainly had a summer to forget, with Jose Mourinho failing to acquire the transfer targets he asked Edward Woodward to supply him.

It wasn’t for the want of trying, though. According to the Daily Mirror, per The Sun, United had a private jet booked on transfer deadline day, but the deal for Diego Godin eventually fell through.

Apparently, United had booked out a jet from Sardinia to Manchester for the man from Uruguay to fly in and complete his medical, but the transfer never got that far, with Godin opting to stay at Atletico Madrid instead as he signed a new £130,000-a-week deal to remain in the Spanish capital.

Understandably, Mourinho was left frustrated at the situation that unfolded. These problems have been highlighted even more since the season has started, with some awfully poor displays in the defensive third of the field.

No doubt, Godin would have been a stunning signing who would have single-handedly transformed our defensive issues. However, in my opinion, the deal never looked likely. Interest was made public knowledge far too late, at which point, there was just no time to get a deal pushed over the line. Perhaps next summer, or even January, things will hopefully be different…
