Manchester United handed boost as Phil Jones returns

Louis van Gaal has been handed a defensive boost ahead of a hugely tricky fixture at home to Roberto Martinez’s Everton. Defender Phil Jones suffered a hamstring injury whilst on international duty with England, but it is believed that the centre-back will be available for selection this weekend – one week earlier than anticipated.

Before his injury, Jones was the outstanding performer at Manchester United. His defensive work was absolutely superb at times, and his ability to read the game and break up the opposing attacks was excellent to watch.

Its great to have arguably our best centre-back fit and ready to go, and hopefully he’ll be able to slot right back into the side and completed the ninety minutes on Sunday.

There have often been concerns about Phil Jones’ injury record, and over the last six months or so he has certainly kept himself fit. Heres to hoping this latest problem was nothing more than a blip, and he’ll be at the heart of our defence all season long.
