Manchester United handed boost in pursuit of English star

Manchester United are clearly willing to wait until the summer to bring in new faces, with Louis van Gaal happy with his squad going into the business end of the season. However, planning for the summer is well underway, and targets are already being identified.

The Old Trafford side are front of the queue, along with Manchester City to land the signature of Everton’s John Stones according to the Times, and they say he wants to remain in the North-West of England.

This means that he’d much prefer a move to one of the Manchester teams, rather than heading down South to play for Chelsea, or even out of the country to a place like Real Madrid or FC Barcelona.

That said, he’d still cost in excess of £40million, and at 21, that is still a huge gamble for a man who may not turn into the world star we all expect as you’re investing in pure talent rather than proven quality.
