Louis van Gaal has been handed a major boost in his pursuit of Roma midfielder and long-term target Kevin Strootman. The Roma boss Rudi Garcia has often been on the stance that Strootman isn’t for sale, but today things have changed – Garcia now insists that he has no say on the matter and its in the hands of the AS Roma Board of Directors.
Strootman is valued at around £30million by Roma, and Louis van Gaal is more than willing to pay that to bring him to Manchester United. The chances are that the move would’ve happened in the summer if it wasn’t for the horrible ACL injury that ended his World Cup hopes.
“Is Strootman for sale? You’ll have to ask our president.” Garcia said.
“But the intention of the club is very clear: Strootman is an important player for us and I hope he is available for the home game against City on 10th December, which is a crucial match.”
Louis van Gaal loves Kevin Strootman. So much so that he changed Holland’s whole formation just weeks before the World Cup to give the Oranje more defensive stability. Strootman just sits in front of the back four and protects them like his life depends on it. Something we need massively.
