Manchester United handed timely injury boost as star set for return

Manchester United take on Ipswich Town tomorrow in the Capital One Cup, and ahead of the game the club have been given a timely boost as Phil Jones will be back in the match day squad. A start has come too soon for the England international, so he’ll take his place on the bench.

Jones has missed every minute of competitive football so far this year due to a blood clot in his leg, but the youngster returned to training last week and has obviously done enough to convince the manager that he is ready to play some part.

I still maintain the stance that Jones is one of the most talented centre-halves in world football, but he needs to put these niggling injuries behind him that will hamper his development sooner or later.

Hopefully he can kick on from here, get a few minutes tomorrow night and build on it for the rest of the season.
