Manchester United can secure their passage through to the Champions League group stage with a win at home to PSV Eindhoven this coming Wednesday, but the task hasn’t been made any easier with no fewer than ten first-team injuries plaguing the squad.
The Manchester Evening News say that our treatment table has ran into double figures following the game against Watford at the weekend, with Louis van Gaal sweating on the fitness of plenty of key men.
Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, James Wilson, Antonio Valencia and Luke Shaw were all absent for the clash at the weekend, and the troubles worsened when Ander Herrera and Phil Jones picked up knocks during the Watford game. Also since then, Juan Mata has suffered a minor injury.
The news obviously isn’t great as we enter the busy winter schedule, and hopefully some of these injuries and knocks aren’t as bad as first feared and at least a few of these players can come back for the top of the table clash against Leicester this coming Saturday.
