Manchester United have NINE players out injured for West Ham game

Manchester United’s huge injury crisis is set to continue – particularly in the defensive areas. Louis van Gaal has today confirmed that the club have nine senior players out injured, and Tyler Blackett’s suspension means ten players will miss the game against West Ham at Old Trafford this weekend.

Amongst the injured are three senior centre-backs in the form of Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling – leaving just Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo as our two senior players capable of playing centre-half this weekend.

Van Gaal said: “We have nine injuries and one suspension with Blackett. The younger players can have their chance now.”

“Evans’ bone is bruised. Smalling left yesterday’s session because he had stiff legs. I won’t take risks with players.”

Its nice to hear Louis van Gaal hint that youth will once again be given a chance, and you’d imagine those in the running will be young Tom Thorpe, who has often impressed for the U21s at United and on loan. Paddy McNair will also be considered by Van Gaal, who is playing excellently for the reserves too.
