Manchester United have absolutely no intention of selling superstar Anthony Martial this summer.
That’s what the excellent Andy Mitten writes in his latest column for ESPN. He also adds that United have no plans to sign any new forwards during the upcoming transfer window.
We all know how immensely talented Martial is, and whenever he’s been given the opportunity, more often than not he produces the goods with some excellent displays.
His finishing is top drawer, the raw pace leaves defenders in his wake and he’s brilliantly skilful. Losing him, under any circumstances would have to be considered a blow, and I’m pleased that Jose Mourinho plans on keeping him around.
The next task for the self-proclaimed Special One is to work out a way to fit him into the team. This is going to be particularly difficult following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival, but Martial will be here for the long-term as he’s only 22. Sanchez is 29…
Then you have to factor in that Martial’s contract runs out in just twelve months. The club will have to give the Frenchman some assurances about his playing time before they convince him to commit to a new deal. Perhaps he’ll get his opportunity to start against Brighton on Friday, as Romelu Lukaku is out injured.
