Manchester United made a huge £37.1million move to sign Juan Mata from Chelsea around eighteen months ago, and the 26-year old Spaniard was an instant hit despite not doing an awful lot on the field.
However Louis van Gaal seems to reaping the benefits of the talents Mata has to offer, and he has certainly made himself one of the first names on the team sheet at the start of this season – particularly in Europe.
According to the guys over at Squawka, Juan Mata has created the third most chances in the Champions League with 9, only one behind Thiago Alcantara and Mathieu Valbuena.
When you add to that the fact that Mata has directly contributed to an impressive 45% of Manchester United’s goals this year, you do realise just what Louis van Gaal sees in him.
His ability on the ball is second-to-none in the current United setup, and he always has that eye for a pass that nobody else on the field will even see happening.
