Manchester United and Louis van Gaal are clearly intent on signing a marquee player in this window, and with just over a week left before the deadline slams shut, Edward Woodward and co. will have to work fast if they are to lure a stellar name to Old Trafford.
According to the usually reliable Steve Bates of The Sunday People, Manchester United haven’t given up hope of signing Gareth Bale this window, and the Iron Tulip is planning a dramatic swoop for the Welshman in the last 72 hours of the window.
Manchester United have been told that they will have to stump up over £100million to land the 26-year old, who had a poor season in Spain last year.
Despite the boo-boys in the crowd, I fully expect Bale to stay at Madrid for at least another year to try and prove his worth and win over the fans. Although I do think Bale is a player who will end up at Old Trafford one day – perhaps over the next couple of years.
