Manchester United were dumped out of the Champions League in horrific fashion last night, with Louis van Gaal’s side now playing in the Europa League come February. Rio Ferdinand has had his say on that particular competition, and he isn’t happy to say the least.
“You don’t want to be in the Europa League. It’s embarrassing you don’t even want to leave your house because of the disappointment.” Rio Ferdinand said.
This is coming from the very top, too. Its mental to think that this is how the top players in England look upon the Europa League, and that mentality has clearly rubbed off on the fans.
It got to the stage where you were praying that United didn’t have to play in this competition, rather than focusing on getting qualification through to the knockout rounds of the Champions League.
