Manchester United hold edge over Chelsea in race to sign left-back: report

Manchester United Football Club hold the edge in any race to sign Alex Sandro.

That’s according to Italian media outlet, Tuttosport, per Tribal Football, they say that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on bringing in the Brazil international.

Apparently, that’s due to the Matteo Darmian factor. Juventus are intent on bringing the right-back to Italy this summer, and that could well open the door to some sort of swap deal taking place.

This transfer going through would make perfect sense. Sandro would be the first-choice left-back from the second he walks through the Old Trafford door, and he’d bring some experience to a back line that needs a leadership figure introducing into it.

Darmian going the other way has to happen. He’s obviously a talented footballer, but the Premier League game is just slightly too fast for him, and the fact that he is lacking in pace doesn’t help his case whatsoever.

We’ve seen how important full-backs are in the modern-day game, just look at how well City did following splashing the cash on two new wide-defenders. They immediately proved their worth, United have to follow suit.
