It comes as no real secret that Manchester United could well be in the market for a new winger over the summer transfer window, with heavy reports linking Jose Mourinho with a move to bring in Ivan Perisic. Things seem to have gone stagnant on that deal, and now, we’re being linked with a possible alternative.
That man is Fiorentina winger, Federico Bernadeschi. It comes from Football Italia, via The Metro, and they say that the Italian winger, who scored 13 goals and assisted 5 in 40 appearances is now an option.
It all stems from Inter’s asking price for the Croatia international Perisic, who they value at £48million, which is pretty steep for a 28-year-old who hasn’t ever played for one of European football’s elite sides.
Bernadeschi, 23, is currently with his native Italy at the U21 European Championships after an excellent couple of years for his club. This is a signing that I’d get much more excited about, as this guy is a player that is improving all the time and is a real joy to watch.
The only issue is that Juventus are also trying to sign Bernadeschi from Fiorentina this summer, and right now the Turin club are in pole position. However, surely it’d make much more sense to let him go abroad, as he cannot directly hurt them in the league every year.
