Manchester United identify surprise 27yo as potential signing after Perisic & Bale frustration: report

Manchester United Football Club have turned their attention towards signing Danny Rose this summer, according to The Independent. The article claims that frustration at Old Trafford is growing, as they’ve seemingly failed in pursuit of both Gareth Bale and Ivan Perisic.

Manager Jose Mourinho wanted to bring in two full-backs and a wide man, but he’s willing to compromise by bringing in Rose, as he plans to play three centre-halves more frequently this campaign.

Rose, 27, is somewhat of a surprising target. To me, he’s neither here nor there. Alright, Mourinho wants to bring in a few full-back, but his main focus all summer has been acquiring a left-sided attacker.

The Englishman has experience and is talented, but is he more talented than Luke Shaw? In my opinion, there is no comparison between the pair. The only thing that strengthens Rose’s hand is the fact that he doesn’t spend as much time as Shaw does on the treatment table – but even then, the Spurs man does tend to pick up niggling injuries quite often.

Then you have to factor in the notorious Daniel Levy. He’ll already be hurting after losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City, so I’m pretty certain he won’t be planning on letting another one of his first-team stars leave in the same window. He’d cost an absolute arm and a leg, and for me, the negatives far outweigh the positives. We’ll just see how this one plays out.
