Manchester United identify who they’d like as Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s long-term replacement

Over the summer, Manchester United made one of the biggest moves of the transfer window when Jose Mourinho decided to bring in Zlatan Ibrahimovic on a free transfer. The influential Swede has made a great start to life at the Theatre of Dreams, having already scored thirteen goals in all competitions.

However, due to the fact that he is now 35, obviously, Jose Mourinho must have one eye on the future. Now the Daily Express say that the Manchester United boss is keen on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s former teammate – Edinson Cavani.

The 29-year-old’s current contract runs out in 2018, and the aforementioned report adds talks about a new deal in Paris have currently stalled; that’s because he isn’t quite sure as to whether he wants to stay there or not.

So far this season, Cavani has bagged fourteen goals in fourteen games for PSG in Ligue 1 which is an impressive record, and you can see exactly why Jose Mourinho could be interested in bringing him to Old Trafford.

Now, we know that any January deal is always extremely tough to pull off, so in my opinion, you can rule it out of happening next month. However, if Cavani still hasn’t put pen to paper on a new contract by the time next summer comes around, he could well be on the move because PSG won’t want to lose him for free.
