Manchester United’s lack of a real top quality centre-forward has been there for all to see over the last few games, but Louis van Gaal’s stubbornness to persist with Wayne Rooney has continued up to this point. However things may be about to change.
The latest rumour floating around the web is that Manchester United are in talks to sign Saido Berahino of West Brom – with Jonny Evans going the other way to make the deal a bit cheaper for the Old Trafford club.
It is thought that Tottenham Hotspur are still the frontrunners for his signature at this moment in time, but as their latest bid of £15million was rejected now could be a good time for Manchester United to swoop for the 22-year old forward.
Personally I think a side of our quality should be setting our sights much higher than Saido Berahino. Yes, he’s a talented player but there are surely better options out there who are ready and available.
The plus would be getting Jonny Evans off the wage bill. He has been poor over the last couple of seasons and those two campaigns look certain to cost him his Manchester United career.
