Manchester United ‘increasingly confident’ in signing world class star within two weeks: report

Manchester United’s links to Antoine Griezmann just will not go away. Yesterday, we learned that the Frenchman has apparently told Atletico Madrid of his desire to leave. That in itself is a huge boost, but the deal is obviously still far from completion.

Now we’ve been offered another update in the ongoing saga, and it comes from Sam Pilger, a sports writer and journalist of The Times and FourFourTwo. He claims that Manchester United are growing in confidence regarding the transfer of Griezmann happening, and they expect that a transfer could be complete within the next two weeks.

In terms of making a statement, I don’t think there would be a bigger one to make. Signing Antoine Griezmann would be huge for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.

This is the man who was named as the third best player in the world just six months ago, as he finished in behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the running for the Ballon D’Or award.

His biggest asset is finding the back of the net. Outside of Zlatan Ibrahimovic last season, the Red Devils’ struggle for goals was pretty clear for all to see. On top of that though, Griezmann is versatile which will be interesting to the manager. He can lead the line, but the 26-year-old is more than capable of starting in any attacking role on the field, say, in behind Marcus Rashford.
