Manchester United join race to sign highly-rated France international: report

Manchester United had a summer transfer window to forget. Edward Woodward wasn’t delivering Jose Mourinho’s transfer targets. Even our big-money signing Fred has barely made an impact.

Now, the club is looking forward, they’re looking to press on and right those wrongs. The latest name to enter the fray is France international, and Lyon superstar, Tanguy Ndombele.

According to the Daily Mirror, per The Metro, United are now amongst sides like Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal in the race to sign the 21-year-old.

Although the defence has looked porous at times, for me, the real problem area is still midfield. Paul Pogba aside, we’re just not creating enough opportunities, and there is no point having a defensive-minded player in there like Nemanja Matic if he isn’t doing his job correctly.

Mobility is more important than ever in the modern game. Look at N’Golo Kante, the amount of ground he can cover is sensational. Ndombele has an excellent engine, is quick, and is an excellent passer. Adding him into the mix would be a brilliant piece of business, although he certainly wouldn’t come cheap as he has recently committed his long-term future to the Ligue 1 giants Lyon. They’d be well within their rights to demand an arm and a leg to let him leave.
