Manchester United Football Club are interested in signing AS Roma midfielder, Lorenzo Pellegrini.
That’s according to Calciomercato, per Devon Live, who adds that the talented 22-year-old has a release clause in his current contract worth £26.5million.
Apparently, United will face stiff competition to try and sign Pellegrini, as Chelsea and Manchester City are both also interested, but when you factor in his immense ability coupled with a low release clause, you sort of expect a whole host of elite sides to be in the running to sign the Italian.
Contrary to the majority, I still feel that midfield is United’s biggest issue. Paul Pogba has continued to be inconsistent, Nemanja Matic is showing his age, Fred hasn’t really been given the opportunity while our best player in the middle of the park has been Marouane Fellaini.
Pellegrini would bring some much-needed energy, sharpness and creativity to the table, and at such a low price, I’d be disappointed if United didn’t get in amongst it when the summer rolls around, as it’s highly unlikely that he’d leave the Serie A side in January.
The good thing is that, even if the Italian fails to adapt to life in the Premier League, with him being so young, there is always the fact that you’d be able to sell him on for a hefty sum of money. It certainly feels like a situation without too much risk.
