Manchester United Football Club could be on the verge of parting with one of their prized assets in Bastian Schweinsteiger. The German international, who signed for United under Van Gaal last summer is set to be axed by Jose Mourinho, and he’s attracting interest from Italy.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who say that the 31-year-old, who has been plagued by injuries, is wanted by both Inter Milan and AC Milan.
The MEN add that Schweinsteiger will have to take a pay cut if he wants to seal a switch to the Serie A, but a move away may well be in his best interests if he wants to be playing football regularly.
It would be sad to see him leave after just twelve months, because it was a move that promised so much this time one year ago. Unfortunately, it just hasn’t quite panned out.
The German midfielder announced his retirement from international football just last week, and wasn’t involved in United’s game against Galatasaray this weekend.
