Manchester United are set to be without their top scorer for the season, as well as their captain for the foreseeable future. Louis van Gaal met the media yesterday, and confirmed that Wayne Rooney’s foot is still in a brace, indicating he’ll be missing for quite a while yet.
It is thought that the striker will have to wear the knee support for at least another fortnight, and he’ll still need time to recover after that. It could well be next season before we see the 30-year old take to the field again.
Rooney himself must be bitterly disappointed. He has been struggling for form for large portions of the season, and he was just finding his feet over the last month or so before this latest injury setback. Hopefully he can keep his confidence and morale high, and come back and perhaps help the team before the season is out.
