Manchester United’s poor summer transfer window has been heavily documented.
Jose Mourinho didn’t get the players that he wanted. So far, that has translated to some awful performances on the field.
Now, it looks as though the club are pulling out all the stops to try and right those wrongs. According to the Daily Express, they’re even trying to re-light former flames – by looking at a move to bring back Angel di Maria…
The Express quote bookies Coral, who have installed the Red Devils as the favourites to bring the now 30-year-old back to Old Trafford. However, the situation has changed somewhat considerably.
Di Maria left the club with the fans on his back. At one point, he actually seemingly refused to play. His year in England truly was awful, despite such a promising start.
Mourinho, however, arguably had the Argentine playing his best football during their time together at Real Madrid. If that partnership was rekindled, who knows what’d happen?
Personally, I’d still have my reservations about this move. Di Maria wouldn’t be well supported from the Old Trafford faithful for what he’s already done to this club. I mean sure, football fans can be as fickle as they come, but I think that the relationship at this point is already irreparable.
