Manchester United have the upper hand in the race to potentially sign FC Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele this summer.
That’s according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, translated excellently by the guys over at Team Talk. They say that the 20-year-old, who was only signed last summer, may be pushed out at the Nou Camp as the Catalan giants are eyeing a move for Antoine Griezmann.
Dembele is an insanely gifted young man but injuries have certainly hampered his development this season. Playing just nineteen times isn’t anywhere near enough, but hopefully, the problems are behind him and now we’ll begin to see his talents come to the fore.
With that said, I’d be extremely surprised if Barcelona let him leave the club so easily. Sure, he’d cost any eventual buyer a huge sum of money, but why on earth would they let a player leave who has the potential to be a long-term replacement for Lionel Messi.
I’d love him at Old Trafford as we’ve been lacking that out-and-out right-winger. Dembele would probably nail that position down almost immediately and I’d fully expect him to light up the Premier League with some scintillating displays.
