Manchester United legend admits he’d love to manage Red Devils one day

Manchester United Football Club were obliterated by City at the weekend. Pep Guardiola’s men were just a cut above in every single aspect. It truly was a forgettable afternoon.

The Red Devils sat back once again, looking to hit City on the break, but they just never looked like carving out a gilt-edged opportunity. It’s damning that United’s only shot on target came from the penalty spot.

United hero Nemanja Vidic has been trying his hand at a bit of punditry recently, and he too is seemingly disappointed with the way things are going at Old Trafford. Although he stopped short of slamming into Jose Mourinho, the Serbian warrior did admit that he would love to manage United one day…

“To be honest, in the future I would like to be the manager [of United]. I would like to think that I know things.” Vidic told BeIn Sports, per talkSPORT.

“For me to criticise Jose Mourinho, as someone who maybe in the future can become the manager, is not fair.

“He is the manager, he has won a lot of trophies.”

While it’s probably too early for him to take over right now, it may well be an option in future. Honestly, I’d love to see United take a chance on a young, up-and-coming manager who plays an attacking style of football.

Be it Vidic, Ryan Giggs or someone not affiliated with United, that certainly seems to be the way to go. You look at all the top managers like the aforementioned Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino. They all press high, attack quickly and play attractive stuff. It’s no surprise that Mourinho is struggling right now. Perhaps his tactics are just outdated.
