Manchester United Football Club were knocked out of the Capital One Cup in abysmal style last night, with Louis van Gaal’s side crashing out to Middlesbrough after putting in a woeful performance before losing on a penalty shootout.
“The style is not something that Sir Alex would have adhered to. I actually think the team is brilliantly coached to defend.” Scholes began.
“It’s a team you wouldn’t want to play against and its probably a team that you wouldn’t want to play in either.”
“There’s a lack of risk & creativity. It seems he doesn’t want players to beat men & score. It’s not a team I’d have enjoyed playing in”
Paul Scholes is right, too. Manchester United’s style of play has been absolutely woeful of late, with the side struggling to score against Middlesbrough – without even looking at all threatening.
At the end of the day football is a results business, and when United are winning the manner in which they do it kind of goes under the radar – but when we lose its highlighted much more.
