Manchester United have been linked with a whole host of names this summer, but this one is starting to feel a bit like Deja Vu.
According to ESPN’s sources, the Red Devils, along with Chelsea, are interested in signing the brilliant 27-year-old midfielder, Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich this summer, with two aforementioned Premier League sides at the head of the queue to prise the playmaker away from Bavaria.
Bayern currently have no fewer than nine midfielders in their squad and they’re understandably looking to think that area of the field. If Thiago is available, then United should pull out all the stops to sign him.
In a trio alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, the Old Trafford club will have a midfield that they can build a team around; and one that should be capable of winning any middle-of-the-park match-up.
At 27, Thiago is the perfect age. He’d bring an excellent blend of experience and energy. United struggled massively with chance-creation last term, that’d change from the get-go if the Spaniard were to make the move to Manchester.
Hopefully, Edward Woodward is already putting in the work behind the scenes to get the deal done as quickly as possible. Beating Chelsea to the deal certainly won’t be easy, though…
