Manchester United could risk losing manager Jose Mourinho to Paris Saint-Germain if N’Golo Kante isn’t signed, according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, translated by the Daily Express.
The report reckons that Mourinho craves the signing of the 26-year-old midfielder, so-much-so that he’s told United board members he’ll head to Paris if a deal doesn’t come to fruition.
Honestly, this seems a little farfetched for my liking. I’ve read some crazy stories in my time, but this is right up there.
I just cannot fathom how Mourinho would expect United to lure Kante from Chelsea. They’ve already sold us one key player recently (Matic), so I highly doubt they’re going to let us sign another player who has been crucial for Antonio Conte since his arrival.
Obviously, I’d love for us to sign Kante, I think he’d be perfect alongside his countryman Paul Pogba, but there is absolutely no chance of it happening. Perhaps this is Mourinho’s way out if that’s what he wants. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens over the summer, but I personally wouldn’t be shocked if the gaffer does walk away.
