Manchester United make £32.5million offer for Serie A centre-back as Lindelof move stalls

Manchester United Football Club has looked rather strong defensively over recent weeks, with Jose Mourinho seemingly settling on an excellent back two of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones. However, that hasn’t stopped the manager showing an interest in other centre-halves just incase.

Now a new name has been thrown into the ring by The Sun newspaper, who go as far as saying that Jose Mourinho has already made a £32.5million offer for AS Roma’s tall centre-back, Kostas Manolas.

The report suggests that this move for the Greek defender has been made due to the fact that Manchester United’s proposed move to bring in SL Benfica’s Victor Lindelof has stalled.

Manolas, now 25, has become a real mainstay for AS Roma since his move from Olympiacos in 2014, and his value has certainly skyrocketed as the Serie A side paid just over £12million to acquire his services.

Personally, this is a move I can definitely get on board with. Manolas is proven in a big European league, whereas Lindelof is much younger and a bigger gamble. If I had to pick between the pair, I’d go for Manolas every single time.

That said, you have to give credit to the defenders already at the club, because all of which have played some brilliant stuff recently. At this point in time, though, we are short due to the fact that Eric Bailly is with Ivory Coast participating in the African Cup of Nations.
