Manchester United have made a huge £56million move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Daily Mail. Italian newspaper Tuttosport claim that the 27-year old Uruguayan who spent six years in Italy before moving to France is top of Louis van Gaal’s wish list.
Cavani himself is thought to be unhappy with playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and has often found himself stuck out on the right-wing rather than in the main central striker role which he prefers. Despite that, Cavani still puts up excellent scoring stats, finding the net an impressive 25 times in 43 appearances.
The main problem with this deal is the huge transfer fee involved, PSG spent €64.5million on acquiring his services less than a year ago, and he hasn’t done badly enough to warrant a loss of money in terms of a transfer fee.
With Van Persie, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez all capable of playing up front, and youngsters like James Wilson and Angelo Henriquez also waiting in the wings, it does become hard to justify spending that much money on a striker.

I don’t think it would be a bad move, ok it’s a bit pricey but he’s 27 so that’s a 4 year contract, Van Persie is 31 in Aug and has struggled with injuries as he’s admitted himself, so what’s he got left in him? Cavani Could bring those goals that we missed when both Rooney and RVP where injured last season and After all,this is supposed to be a new Era
