Manchester United make huge offer to sign Ligue 1 striker: report

The transfer window is almost upon us now, and we’re at that point in the season where links to players seem to be popping up more and more. The latest rumour that has come around is a Manchester United bid for AS Monaco star, Kylian Mbappe.

That’s according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, translated by the Daily Express. The Red Devils are believed to have seen their £72million bid for Mbappe rejected, with the Ligue 1 leaders holding out for upwards of £100million if they are to sell their man of the moment.

Mbappe has burst onto the scene this year, namely in the Champions League, where he became the first player to score in his first four knockout games of that competition. This alone just shows how supremely talented of an individual the young man is.

The scary thing is that the forward is barely eighteen and still has much more developing to do before he is anywhere near to becoming the finished article. The interest has already been generated in the player, and AS Monaco will do well to keep hold of Mbappe beyond the summer.

My only concern would be that he is built in a very similar mould to Marcus Rashford. Both are young, quick and deadly finishers, and it wouldn’t make sense to have two guys who have almost identical playing styles. Why not bring in someone who can offer something different?
