Manchester United are planning a late move, to bring in Arsenal’s Mathieu Debuchy on loan until the end of the season, according to both the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail. The Frenchman has lost his place in the side to Hector Bellerin, and is prepared to leave the Emirates.
In terms of a short-team loan, we could do a lot worse than Debuchy. The Frenchman is experienced, and knows the Premier League well. He could certainly come in and do a real job until May, and it’d be an opportunity for him to get his career back on track.
At 30 he is nothing more than a quick fix, but he will certainly give us some consistency down that right-hand side, particularly given the amount of injuries we have in that position.
With time running down it may be tough to get a deal done, and Arsenal will probably be reluctant to let him leave for a rival, but we’ll see how things progress.
