Manchester United make world record bid for in-demand striker: report

The footballing world took plenty of notice of a certain young talent in the Champions League this season; Kylian Mbappe. At just eighteen, the star striker broke a Champions League record as he became the first teenager to score in four knockout games in a row.

Now, the so-called big boys from all across Europe are fighting it out to sign the man from AS Monaco. It seems like Jose Mourinho and Manchester United have gotten in on the act to sign Mbappe, with Spanish media outlet AS (translated by the Daily Mail), claiming that the Red Devils have made a huge £113million bid to sign the youngster.

However, the Old Trafford club are far from alone in their pursuit of the Frenchman. The same report is claiming that City have offered £105million for his services, whereas Real Madrid are expected to eclipse both Manchester sides with a colossal £118million offer.

The fees being mentioned by the media tell you everything you need to know about Mbappe’s ridiculous potential. But, we have to remember that he is nowhere near the finished article and this is a huge gamble.

Personally, I’d prefer to see Edward Woodward spending this kind of money on perhaps two or three more experienced players who could come in and improve our starting line-up in the here and now.

With that said, there is no denying that if he fulfils his potential, Mbappe could well turn into one of the best young players in the world. I’d just be a bit concerned that he’s a very similar player to both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, so a move for him seems a bit pointless.
