Manchester United’s Premier League campaign for 2015/16 wasn’t great, with Louis van Gaal’s men struggling to put any decent prolonged run together. That led to the manager losing his job, but there is one thing we have to be thankful to him for.
On transfer deadline day, the Dutchman sanctioned a £38million move to bring in Anthony Martial from AS Monaco, and the French starlet has gone to light up the Premier League.
His meteoric rise puts him as the sixth most valuable player in football, according to CIES. He is of course behind Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo – with Antoine Griezmann and Tottenham’s Harry Kane making up the top five.
This graphic shows just how far the young forward has come in such a short space of time. When United bought him he was somewhat of an unknown, but since that stunning debut goal against Liverpool, everyone knows his name.
Manchester United will be hoping for Martial to keep his head down and continue to develop, because he could well go on to be the best player in the world one day.
