Manchester United monitoring emerging 22-year-old, scouts in attendance on Tuesday: report

Manchester United Football Club had an awful summer transfer window. Jose Mourinho was left disappointed, as Edward Woodward failed to deliver the club’s major transfer targets.

It looks as though planning for the January transfer window is already underway. That’s according to UOL Esporte, translated by the Manchester Evening News, who say that United had scouts watching Everton Soares on Tuesday.

Soares’ stock has risen over the last few weeks, scoring six goals in his last seven outings for Gremio in the Brazilian league. The problem? Manchester City have also shown an interest in the left-winger. Apparently, they’ve been watching him since he was sixteen…

I’m all for new signings. But another left-winger? At this point, that honestly doesn’t seem too smart…

We already have Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial all vying for that one spot. The only logic behind it would be that the club are preparing to let the aforementioned Martial leave. However, if recent reports are to be believed, the 22-year-old is to pen a new five-year deal at Old Trafford…

Honestly, I’m just not sure what to think. I’d much prefer a right-winger, centre-back or right-back to come in, but it’ll be intriguing to see if this interest is backed up with an official bid.
