Manchester United have somewhat of a selection dilemma on their hands with Wayne Rooney’s dip in from, and the majority of the Old Trafford faithful would like to see a world class striker brought in by Louis van Gaal this window.
According to Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, Manchester United are monitoring Karim Benzema – but not for a move this summer as the Iron Tulip is content with his attacking options.
Benzema, 27, had arguably his best season in the all-white of Real Madrid last season, scoring 22 goals in all competitions.
The Frenchman is one of football’s elite number nines, and there is no doubting that Wayne Rooney certainly hasn’t been that this summer and he simply must up his game if Manchester United don’t move for another forward in this window.
Another issue could be whether or not Benzema actually wants to leave the Bernabeu this summer, particularly having played the majority of the games for his current side.
If he does leave there is certain to be interest from Arsene Wenger and Arsenal too.
