Manchester United’s game against Everton is obviously going to be a tough one for Louis van Gaal and his men, and his task hasn’t been made any easier by a mini-injury crisis that has plagued the squad. One man who’ll miss out is Ashley Young, and his replacement in the squad is a bit of a surprise.
Jesse Lingard is looking like taking his place on the bench at the very least, as the young man was confirmed to be in the squad travelling to Merseyside this afternoon.
The 22-year old is clearly liked by Louis van Gaal. Lets not forget he gave Lingard a starting spot in United’s season opener against Swansea last term, but his year was cut short after suffering an injury in that game.
This could be the chance that Lingard needs to force his way back into the first-team fold, and who knows, the gaffer may surprise us by starting him later today.
