Manchester United new boy Diogo Dalot hints at first-team debut soon

Manchester United Football Club made three signings over the summer. We’ve only seen one in first-team action thus far.

Diogo Dalot arrived at the club injured, but has since returned to training. Now, according to the Manchester Evening News, the man himself has hinted at a debut in the not too distant future, with one simple tweet…

The young Portuguese simply tweeted ‘soon’ in emoji form, suggesting that his time is now…

Right-back slot has been a major issue for United in the early-season. Matteo Darmian just isn’t good enough, hence why Jose Mourinho wanted to sell him. Then you have Antonio Valencia who has also been out injured, while Ashley Young is a make-shift defender. We all know he’s not the long-term solution.

That’s where Dalot is intriguing. He’s young but obviously has potential in abundance. Although he’s only played a handful of first-team games, with the way things are going, I wouldn’t bet against him getting plenty of playing time before the season is out.

We’re all excited to see him play, but it’s probably best to ease him into things. Perhaps a good starting point would be the Carabao Cup third round; a game in which we’ll potentially go up against a lower-league team…
