Manchester United odds-on to land Premier League superstar in January: report

Manchester United need to spend in January if they hold any hopes of salvaging this season. 

Jose Mourinho has always been a build-from-the-back manager, but after Edward Woodward chose not to sign a new centre-half over the summer, the pressure has been mounting on the self-proclaimed Special One.

Although the back line have struggled to remain watertight, some onus has to be on the midfield as their lack of chance creation is alarming. That would certainly explain Mesut Ozil being linked with an Old Trafford move, with the Daily Express also saying that the German is his shortest ever price to join the Red Devils.

Apparently, United are as short as 1/2 to land the attacking midfielder, who’s long-term future at Arsenal appears to be in doubt under new management.

Understandably, Arsenal would expect a big transfer fee to allow such a talent join a direct Premier League rival, but I have doubts about whether he’d fit in at United.

He’s 30 now and has struggled to fully adapt to life in England. I have questions marks about whether he ever will. If he cannot do it under free-flowing coaches like the aforementioned Emery and Arsene Wenger, I’m just not sure if it’ll work out with Mourinho at the helm.

Personally, I’d like to see the money spent elsewhere, let’s be honest, I think this one would be a disaster waiting to happen.
