Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer has sadly passed away, aged 86. Tampa Bay Buccaneers broke the news, the NFL team he owned alongside Manchester United. During his time at the club, United won five Premier League titles.
It is thought that Malcolm hasn’t been involved in the day-to-day running of the club for a while now due to illness, and it looks like Joel and Avram Glazer will be taking charge imminently. The brothers now have until after the World Cup to get used to being in charge on a permanent basis, which will bring its own pressures despite being involved heavily recently.
Malcolm Glazer was obviously a hugely unpopular figure amongst the fans of the club, but at the end of the day he’s a human being with a family and close friends who’ll be mourning his passing. Rest in peace.
He leaves behind his wife Linda, six children and 14 grandchildren.
