If you had any doubts that Manchester United is still by far and away the biggest club in England, then let me quash those for you. SportsDirect.com, via The Metro, has compiled the top twenty players that sell shirts, and it’s heavily dominated by the Red Devils.
As you can see from the image below, United have six players included in the list, with Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba finishing first and second respectively. Also in the mix are Zlatan Ibrahimovic at ten, Romelu Lukaku at thirteen, David de Gea at fourteen and finally, Marcus Rashford at eighteen.
The list is from January 1st to present, and it highlights that despite poor form on the field, Manchester United is still a huge pull amongst the footballing community. That’ll never change, with their loyal fanbase now looking for their players to come up trumps as we approach the business end of the season.
Perhaps the big surprise on this list for me is how high Ibrahimovic is. He has barely played this term yet United fans are still giving him huge backing. I also look at Rashford and see him above Christian Eriksen and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. That’s sensational for the young man. If you’re still t be convinced, the only goalkeeper on the list? David de Gea.
Oh, and if you’re having doubts about whether Manchester is Red, our noisy neighbours have just two players included…
