Manchester United plotting move for Frenchman as Luke Shaw replacement: report

Manchester United are plotting to make a move for AS Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe, as a replacement for Luke Shaw. That’s according to French media outlet Le10Sport, translated by the Daily Mirror.

Apparently, the English outcast Shaw is expected to depart from Old Trafford this summer, and obviously, he’ll need replacing, despite some excellent performances from make-shift left-back Ashley Young of late.

Mourinho believes the Malian-born-Frenchman Sidibe could be the answer to his problems, with the 25-year-old stepping up his game in the absence of Benjamin Mendy, who moved to Manchester City last summer.

Left-back has been a real problem position at Manchester United for years, heck, nobody has been able to nail the position down since Patrice Evra departed a few years ago.

From what I’ve seen from Sidibe, he’s an excellent player at a great age. We’d be getting his best years, whereas he’s experienced enough already to come in and do a more than capable job from day one.

However, as we’ve seen from AS Monaco recently, they can command top-notch fees for their players, particularly the ones who played their part in their Ligue 1 title-winning campaign. With that said, United have some financial muscle so it shouldn’t be too big of an issue.
