Manchester United prepare bids for Barcelona duo

Manchester United boss David Moyes is preparing a bid for the Barcelona duo Alex Song and Christian Tello. Caught Offside understand that the United boss has scouted the duo and will look to make offers for their services as soon as the summer window opens at the end of the current season.

David Moyes badly needs to sign a midfielder in this window, and a move for Alex Song would certainly make sense. The 26-year old is still yet to reach his peak, and has often found himself left out of the Barcelona side due to the quality they have in the midfield area. Song has Premier League experience with Arsenal, and could come to Manchester United and walk into the current starting XI.

Song cost Barcelona £15m in 2012, and things haven’t quite worked out at Barcelona so he could be available for even less than that which would be a bargain. I’m almost certain Arsenal would be interested in bringing him back though, which could complicate things.

Christian Tello on the other hand is a Barcelona youth product who has represented Spain at every level, including the full national side once. However Tello has been limited to just two La Liga starts, and although a new contract could well be on the table, a move to Manchester United could be tempting.

United do need another winger to potentially replace one or two of the current ones as they simply aren’t performing at the moment. Tello would fit the bill perfectly. He’s young, talented and has pace to burn.

Both of these players would certainly improve our squad, its just whether or not they want to leave one of the best clubs in the world to join a side who will almost certainly be without Champions League football next season.

  1. I know this has been said before, but DM hasn’t got the experience to forge together a new group of players. This season it’s ‘my players aren’t good enough’ (they’re certainly not bad enough to be 7th). The next two seasons United’s underachieving will be put down to ‘it’s a new group of players’

United with all their resources stood still for twenty years because they never appointed the right man

Get rid of Moyes and put AF in a honouree president’s position, where he hasn’t got a say. He was amazing, and thanks for the memories but life and MUFC moves on

We’re stuck in a bad moment
