Manchester United and Jose Mourinho are preparing their opening offer to sign Napoli star Faouzi Ghoulam.
That’s according to RMC Sport, translated by The Metro, who state that the Red Devils are going to start the bidding at £26million for the 27-year-old left-back.
The French-born-Algerian has made over 150 appearances for the Serie A side, greatly impressing over in Italy. Apparently, United have already made contact with his representatives, although both Chelsea and Liverpool have shown an interest too…
It’s pretty clear to me that left-back has been identified as a problem area. For whatever reason, the manager seemingly doesn’t fully trust Luke Shaw in that position, and although Ashley Young has done well, he’s hardly a long-term solution.
Is Ghoulam the answer? Who knows. Personally, I’d prefer to see Alex Sandro come through the Old Trafford entrance, but persuading Juventus into selling the Brazilian could be considerably harder.
At this point, all we can do is trust the manager’s decision-making as he hasn’t gotten many transfers wrong so far. If Ghoulam is the man that comes in, then us fans have to get 100% behind him and give him the best possible chance at succeeding.
