Manchester United quartet to miss Sociedad game

David Moyes has been hit with a few injury concerns ahead of a crucial Champions League clash with Basque side Real Sociedad. Michael Carrick, Danny Welbeck, Jonny Evans and Rafael all haven’t travelled to Spain due to various injury problems, with the latter two picking up theirs in the 3-1 win away to Fulham at the weekend.

It is thought that Rafel’s injury could be ligament damage, which depending on the seriousness could be a major problem long-term for the Red Devils. Jonny Evans limped off at half-time on Saturday with what is thought to be a back injury, and Michael Carrick is still missing due to a shin problem. Patrice Evra and Tom Cleverley are minor doubts too.

David Moyes could recall Rio Ferdinand to the heart of the defence as a partner for either Nemanja Vidic or Phil Jones, and Chris Smalling will probably fill in at right-back for Rafael.

The game tomorrow could also see another achievement for the talented Adnan Januzaj, who still hasn’t made his Champions League bow.
