Manchester United Football Club are ready to let David de Gea leave Old Trafford, but only if they get a player in return.
That’s what Spanish publication Diario Gol says anyway, translated by The Standard – Kenya. Apparently, Jose Mourinho wants one of three players; Isco, Toni Kroos or Marco Asensio.
Talks between Florentino Perez and De Gea have already taken place according to Diario Gol, with the shot-stopper wanting the move to happen.
I think it’s pretty obvious that United want to strengthen their midfield, based upon the players that Mourinho would want as part of any De Gea deal, anyway.
Let’s start with Isco. The Spaniard is more of an attack-minded central player, who’ll score goals aplenty and carve out chances. I see him as Juan Mata, with more pace and ability to go past his marker.
Then you have Marco Asensio; an excellent up and comer who has huge potential to go an awfully long way in the beautiful game. I just don’t see Madrid letting him leave though, he’s just too good.
Finally, Toni Kroos. He’d probably be my pick as he’d sit in a three alongside Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, coolly picking out the right passes thanks to his brilliant decision-making. He’d be a supreme replacement for Michael Carrick.
With that said, though, the best outcome would involve De Gea staying at Old Trafford. He’s probably the best in the business, and whoever United would eye as a replacement would be a step down.
