Manchester United ready to break world record to sign defender – report

The January transfer window opens in just a few weeks time, and all of the clubs will be looking for those additions to the squad that could grab them a few extra wins going into the second half of the season. One man Manchester United are keen on is John Stones.

According to the Independent, Manchester United are prepared to splash the cash to lure Stones to Old Trafford, so-much-so they are prepared to break the world record fee for a defender – which currently sits at £50million, David Luiz’s transfer to PSG.

John Stones has shown all the attributes of becoming a world class player for many years to come, and it explains why Chelsea shown such a strong interest in him over the summer. There is no doubting he’d be an outstanding addition to the squad, and who knows, he could form a brilliant partnership with Chris Smalling for both club and country.
