Manchester United have been trying to land that marquee signing for quite a while now, with Jose Mourinho the third manager having a go at accomplishing that feat. However, that task won’t be easy whatsoever, especially given the lack of Champions League football.
That hasn’t stopped United trying, though. According to reports in Spain, Jose Mourinho will try to lure Gareth Bale to Old Trafford. Spanish journalist Kike Marin reckons that the club have set aside almost £94million to persuade Real Madrid into selling the Welshman.
Marin also adds that United will have a struggle on their hands to land the 26-year-old however, as he still has three years left on his contract. He is also viewed as the natural successor to Cristiano Ronaldo at the Santiago Bernabeu, and you’d imagine that’s something that excites Bale.
At the end of the day, money talks in football. If the club can offer enough and tempt Real Madrid into selling then a deal will be done. For now though, this one looks unlikely.
